This is still a 1-drop artifact, which is probably relevant for the format, but I want a little bit more out of the effect like the ability to use it with some sort of combat damage trigger

There's a big advantage to sneaking it onto the battlefield, despite the cost, because when it deals combat damage to an opponent, you can pull a creature from that player's graveyard, which then enters the battlefield under your control, tapped and attacking that player
