Scarce denomination struck for King Charles III while a colony of Spain. Minted at the Potosi Mint (mint mark PTS monogram, assayer J R). Struck 1775, one year prior the historic American Revolution year. Certified by PCGS to XF Detail Chop Mark. Colorfully toned with luster, bold chop mark, very appealing in hand. Type of coinage that circulated in the American Colonies and a favorite of Pirates.
